WWE was established in 1953 but there is no exact source of how and who started the company but it was known as Capitol Punishment at the time. It was 1982 when Vince McMahon took over the company but there were many changes before the company was named to WWE. WWE is a global brand with valuation in billions but most of the people around the world still doesn’t know about what is the full form of WWE. Let’s us know what actually the word ‘WWE’ stands for.
What is the Full form of WWE?
Actually the full form of WWE is World Wrestling Entertainment and there is an interesting history behind it. Previously it was known as WWF, which was fully known as World Wrestling Federation, but in the year 2002 an NGO named World Wild Fund filed a lawsuit on the world’s largest pro wrestling promotion as they still own the trademark for ‘WWF.’
As a result Vince McMahon and his peers were forced to change the company’s name from WWF to WWE and this became official on 6 May, 2002. The company’s logo has changed many times since then but the name has remained the same and full form of WWE is still World Wrestling Entertainment.
Soon after the name change from WWF to WWE, the company launched their own studio, which was named as WWE Studios, but earlier it was formed as WWE Films. Many years later, in 2012 WWE Network was formed to enter the digital world. Now WWE streams their weekly shows and premium live events on WWE Network but users have to buy a subscription plan to watch the shows. After changing the name of the company Vince Mcmahon soon officially announced the start of ‘Ruthless Agression’ era.
