John Cena or Roman Reigns: Battle of being the Best
Roman Reigns and John Cena, two of the best WWE has ever produced. They are often compared to each other, so a question arises who is better among them? Just for a reminder, it was year 2017 when John literally cooked so called today’s Tribal Chief. But, a lot has changed since then and Reigns has become a lot better as a performer.
His Physique is on its peak, his character has a different aura, he has improved mic skills now. This all came to presentation when John Cena again came face to face against Roman Reigns in 2021. It was this time, Reigns actually looked a different performer than 2017.
We know, you know that John and Roman are from two different generations, then how can they be compared when situations and environment was different. So, here we will discus a lot of possibilities that who actually is best, John Cena or Roman Reigns.

Why Roman Reigns is better: Both matches John Cena lost
No Mercy 2017: It was 21st of August in 2017, when John Cena returned and termed himself as a free agent. The 16 time WWE champion specifically came to Raw to target Roman Reigns. In the following weeks their feud got into a different mode. Bullying, confronting and teasing each other for weeks they finally had an actual match at No Mercy 2017.
This was the longest match of the No Mercy premium live event which lasted over 22 minutes. John Cena vs Roman Reigns fight proved out to be an interesting matchup, given that John had not been performing as a full time performer for many years. Ultimately Roman Reigns performed a superman punch, then a spear just after and pinned John Cena to claim the historic win.
SummerSlam 2021: In the last 4 years after No Mercy circumstances had changed because Roman Reigns became heel in 2020. Being in the Tribal Chief character he proved out to be a great villain in the modern times. Cena returned at Money in the Bank event and challenged then WWE Universal champion Reigns.
Again their fight was booked for a longer period of time which lasted for over 22 minutes. There was a stipulation included in the match that had Roman Reigns lost, he would leave the company. Both superstars impressed the Allegiant Stadium crowd again and in the end Reigns prevailed. But after the match Brock Lesnar returned, executed many german suplexes and f-5 to Cena and also came face to face against Tribal Chief.
Roman Reigns vs John Cena Mic Skills: One on One Battle
As we told you earlier that Reigns and Cena had one on one promo battle in 2017. Reigns started it right but as the time goes by he was visibly hesitating and nervousness was all over his face. The worst part was that so called the face of the company Roman Reigns forgot his lines and the king of the promos, Cena humiliated him in front of thousands of fans. John even said that Roman should learn how to do a promo. There are many reasons the now Tribal Chief will never forget that promo.
They again faced in a promo battle in 2021 and The Tribal Chief had a different and a powerful aura now. This time he had confidence in his eyes, he was not fumbling with words and going face to face with John Cena in a promo battle without hesitating was a win in itself for Roman Reigns. With Paul Heyman on his side, Tribal chief has genuinely improved a lot and once Heyman revealed that Reigns was always destined to be a great performer, he just had to believe in himself.
Verdict: Both the matches are won by Roman Reigns and in promo battle Reigns made a comeback against John in 2021 and looked fresh than ever in terms of mic skills. It can be said that Reigns is better overall.
