5. Volleyball

Volleyball may not be very popular in sub-continent, but America, Europe, Australia and many Asian countries are considered as top teams in the world. Poland and Brazil are among the countries where Volleyball is played the most. Volleyball is estimated to have a global fan base of over 900 million. Japan and Italy also have quite a fan base of Volleyball over there.

Tennis is a racket sport in which an athlete needs a great athleticism, hand-eye combination, stamina and many more qualities. Wimbledon, the Australian Open, the French Open and the US Open are the four biggest Tennis tournaments of the year, which goes by the name Grand Slam tournaments. Tennis is loved by more than 1 billion fans globally. Hockey have two versions which are being played worldwide for many years. Field Hockey, which is played at the turf and is very famous in countries such as India, Pakistan, Argentina, Australia and many others. While Canada and USA has a different version of Hockey. They play it on ice and they name it as Ice-Hockey. Field Hockey and Ice Hockey has an estimated worldwide fan base of around 2.2 billion.

Cricket generated in England and it is believed that it was first played in 1300s but it started to gain popularity in 17th century. According to International Cricket Council (ICC) this sport is played in 108 countries with having biggest fan base in sub-continent. In 2018 ICC did a survey, which revealed that Cricket’s 90% fans are in sub-continent (mainly India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka). Cricket has gained popularity in western countries as well, that’s why this sport is destined to reach new heights in the near future.

According to FIFA (International Federation of Football), Football has a fan base of over 5 billion. World has a population of over 8.1 billion and more than half of them love watching football. You can only assume that how much this sport is loved all around the world. Latin America, Middle East, many African countries have biggest fan base for Football. It is believed that Football is played in more than 200 countries.
